My first session

Navigating Your First Counselling Session

Entering counseling for the first time can feel intimidating, but it's a brave step towards healing and growth. In our initial session, creating a safe and comfortable space is my priority. It's essential for us to establish a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust and understanding.

Building a theraputic relationship

During our first session, we'll take the time to get to know each other. I may ask what brought you to therapy? I may ask you other questions to help me understand what's going on in your world.

Understanding your support network is key to our work together. We'll discuss the people in your life, from family and friends to other sources of support. Identifying your support system can provide valuable insights into your strengths and resources.

Exploring Your World

I'll inquire about what brings you joy and fulfillment, as well as any challenges you may be facing. Understanding what makes you happy and what's currently causing you to feel stuck can guide our journey together.

Tailored Approach for Eating Disorder Assessment:

If you're coming for an Eating Disorder assessment, our session will be extended to two hours. This allows  time to explore your experiences, concerns, and goals in greater depth, ensuring a comprehensive understanding and personalised approach to support your needs.

Collaborative Process

Throughout our session, Your insights and experiences are integral to our work together. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals, collaboratively charting a path towards healing and growth.

Remember, counselling is a journey, and I'm here to support you every step of the way.
